My highlight of the year was making the the Christmas tree. My one worked out really well and making them was also really interesting. This year was a great year for me and I hope next year will be the same
My Goals Report
First of all my goals
To get better at speaking more confidently
To get better at making my writing more interesting
To get better at fractions and decimals
I think that I achieved all of my goals that I set myself. I have been working on them for most of the year. I know that I have achieved my goals because I have been speaking more confidently, my writing has been more interesting lately and my fractions and decimals have improved a lot since the start of the year.
Reaching my goals wasn't too hard but some were a bit difficult. The maths ones were the hardest because I had no idea what I was doing but then after a lot of practise they turned out to be quite easy. I tried really hard this year to try and complete these goals and by the end of the year they were completed. Before I set these goals I wasn't very good at some things but now I am doing fine.
I helped myself achieve these goals by doing more writing and trying new things with it. With the fractions and decimals I was going on mathletics and studyladder more. And the last one was my speaking. It was improved by me sharing more ideas and talking to other people more.
My goals were helpful throughout the year by making me go on mathletics and studyladder more. I achieved my goals up to my standard. After I had achieved my goals I found all of it so easy.
Electronics Day
We went into the class room to watch a video straight after we signed in. It was about soldering which is what we were doing for the whole day. I didn't know if I was going to like doing it or not but it was so fun. We had to put little things on the Christmas tree then we had to solder them on so they would stay in place. At the end we where supposed to program them to make them do what we wanted. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time for that. We were going to do that today but they had plans so now we have to wait until next week. The Christmas tree had lights on it. It also did a tune when you pressed a button.
I had a great time doing this and I would like to do it again but not for a job. Bake Sale
I had a great time doing the bake sale. Sarah and I made cheese puffs. Sarah, Sam and I were selling food at on the deck for the juniors. We were doing this bake sale to raise money for our class trip to Oamaru. We were expecting to make around $100 but we made $236.7. We all counted the money in different groups for maths. We were going to see if we all got the same amount of money, but we didn't. Mr Feasey came in and he wondered how much money we would make in 1 hour. Then we figured that it would be nine hundred and something dollars.

MathsThis week in Maths we are learning about LCM (lowest common multiple) and HCM (highest common multiple). Design and Build a Bridge
Our bridge is very pointy at the moment. We used a couple of things but not too many. Sarah and I made our bridge very strong but we didn't over load it. For strength we used skewers and made triangles. The maximum weight was 150g. Our bridge weighed 71.71 grams so we were not over the weight limit.

Support Staff Day Thank you to the support staff for helping people around the school. We appreciate it a lot.
Today Sarah, Olivia and I cut out a whole lot of triangles and then stuck them onto a piece of string to hang up in the staff room and outside the office. While we were doing that the rest of the class was writing things about you on the backs of them.
Week 7 Spelling
This term we are learning about New Zealand natural disasters. I am doing the Wahine Disaster. Here is a map of New Zealand with some pictures of the disasters that have happened over the years.

The topic is music so we have got Hera and Jed. They are musicians. Here are some of their songs: That is one of the ones that they showed us when we were watching them. Here is one of the pictures that was in one of the videos we watched with them called Issues: In the video Jed draws a moustache on Hera. As you can see in this photo Hera has a drawing on her face. She only and always wears this when she is performing.

The Invasion “Run! Run! Run! “They are approaching .” What do you mean? Who are approaching? “How about you take a look over there and you will find out.” Oh No! That is really bad. “Run and hide now!”
As I was running along the rough, jagged ground I collapsed. I had fallen into a rabbit hole. I got up and discovered that I had hurt myself. As soon as I was standing upright I fainted because I was in so much pain. I woke up in an old disused cottage with old barred windows.
As we left the cottage we saw them again. “Run for your lives!” I yelled. Then we approached a fence.
Week 8
Camp Recount
On the third day of camp we did orienteering and went rock climbing. It was such a long walk to the rock we were going to climb. When we eventually arrived there all of the gear was lying on the ground. We were in groups from the night-line. The first time I was the backup person in case the be-layer did something wrong.
At the top of the rock it was a bit scary but when I started going down the nervous feelings went away. I found it challenging to look up at the sky while going down the rock face. It felt like I was going to fall down. I just had to trust the person down the bottom.
After a while it got really hot. Luckily there was a cool breeze on the way back to Huxley. But we still had to walk the whole way back.
My favourite part of going rock climbing was climbing the rock and then coming back down again even though the hardest part for me was coming down the rock.
There was lots of hills on the way there and back and it was so tiring because we were all exhausted from climbing the rock when it was really hot.
My favorite sports are swimming and skiing. I also like running but not as much as swimming and skiing.

My thank-you letter
Dear Mr Van Der Westhuizen
Thank-you for coming to camp and doing rock climbing. The first time I was a bit nervous at the start but then I I started to trust the person down the bottom belaying. Then it got easier to go down and it tuned out really cool.
You helped me by encouraging me when I was going down the rock.
I hoped you had a awesome camp with us and you go with us again next year with us. Before everyone else got to Huxley I had to make the deserts. One of the instant puddings failed and Jacob had the idea of putting the cola jelly into the failed instant pudding.
I can't wait until next years camp.
